Unleash Your Golf Potential: How Doug Heels’ “Be Activated” Therapy Can Transform Your Swing and Boost Driving Length

golf swing

Introduction:

Golf is a sport that demands precision, technique, and finesse. Every golfer strives to improve their game, whether it’s perfecting their swing or increasing driving length. While traditional methods focus on swing mechanics and physical conditioning, there’s a revolutionary approach gaining traction in the golfing world – Doug Heels’ “Be Activated” therapy.

This therapy isn’t just about muscles; it’s about unlocking your body’s full potential to optimize performance on the golf course. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll delve into how “Be Activated” therapy can revolutionize your golf game, enhancing your swing mechanics and driving distance.

Understanding “Be Activated” Therapy:

Developed by South African physiotherapist Douglas Heel, “Be Activated” therapy revolves around the principle that the body operates in a predictable pattern of muscle activation. According to Heel, when muscles don’t activate in the correct sequence or pattern, it leads to inefficient movement, reduced performance, and increased risk of injury. By identifying and correcting these muscle activation patterns, “Be Activated” therapy aims to restore the body’s natural movement and unlock its full potential.

The Key Principles of “Be Activated” Therapy:

Muscle Activation: “Be Activated” therapy focuses on activating dormant or underactive muscles to restore balance and optimal function. This activation is achieved through a series of simple yet powerful techniques, such as diaphragmatic breathing and specific muscle activations.

Breathing Patterns: Proper breathing is integral to optimal muscle function and movement. “Be Activated” therapy emphasizes diaphragmatic breathing to engage the core muscles, stabilize the spine, and enhance overall performance.

Muscle Relationships: The body operates as a system of interconnected muscles, and disruptions in one area can affect the entire system. “Be Activated” therapy identifies and addresses these disruptions to restore proper muscle relationships and movement patterns.

Repatterning Movement: Through targeted interventions, “Be Activated” therapy helps rewire the brain’s movement patterns, enabling more efficient and effective movement on the golf course.

How “Be Activated” Therapy Enhances Golf Performance:

Improved Mobility and Flexibility: Golf requires a full range of motion and flexibility to execute the perfect swing. “Be Activated” therapy helps improve mobility in key areas such as the hips, shoulders, and spine, allowing golfers to achieve optimal positioning throughout their swing.

Enhanced Stability and Balance: Stability and balance are essential for generating power and maintaining control during the golf swing. “Be Activated” therapy activates the core muscles and stabilizers, providing a solid foundation for improved balance and stability throughout the swing motion.

Increased Power and Speed: By optimizing muscle activation patterns and movement efficiency, “Be Activated” therapy can unlock untapped power and speed in your swing. This translates to greater clubhead speed, resulting in longer drives off the tee.

Consistency and Accuracy: A consistent swing is the hallmark of a skilled golfer. “Be Activated” therapy helps eliminate inconsistencies by addressing muscle imbalances and movement dysfunctions, allowing golfers to repeat their swing with precision and accuracy.

Injury Prevention: Golfers are prone to a variety of injuries, particularly related to repetitive motions and poor mechanics. “Be Activated” therapy reduces the risk of injury by optimizing muscle function, improving biomechanics, and enhancing body awareness.

Implementing “Be Activated” Therapy in Your Golf Routine:

Here at Regain Pain Management, we have certified ‘Be Activated’ Therapists who can work with you to improve your game. Our director, Mathew Jerome, has years of experience using this modality on professional & amateur footballers, boxers and Golfers. He has recently started working with members of a local golf club, and 2 of the members reported winning their first ever competitions after having just one session of ‘Be Activated’ therapy with him.

Numerous professional golfers and athletes have experienced remarkable improvements in their performance through “Be Activated” therapy. From PGA Tour pros to amateur enthusiasts, the benefits of optimizing muscle activation and movement efficiency are undeniable. The results are instant – we measure before and after treatment so that clients can gauge the big improvement in strength and function.

Conclusion:

Doug Heels’ “Be Activated” therapy offers a ground-breaking approach to enhancing golf performance, improving swing mechanics, and increasing driving length. By addressing muscle imbalances, optimizing movement patterns, and enhancing body awareness, golfers can unlock their full potential on the course. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a weekend warrior, incorporating “Be Activated” therapy into your training regimen could be the key to unlocking your best golf game yet.

Matt Grace – Strength and Rehabilitation Coach

Matt initially completed his Myofascial Release training at the same time as Mathew Jerome. He has since moved on to become one of the best performance rehab coaches in Leeds, Huddersfield, Barnsley, and surrounding areas.

His passion for helping people to function correctly, reducing the chance of injury occurring is what sets him apart from the rest. He also works with clients who have postural/muscular imbalance. Helping to get them back to full strength using a range of exercises and routines that balance the body and get it working at an optimum level again.

Matt started out doing sports massage therapy and Myofascial Release. And whilst he learned a lot from experienced therapists, he always felt like there was something missing. It was his own back injury that led to further research in to biomechanics and movement. And, having suffered from injuries in the past, he knew that there would be others who were frustrated with long periods of convalescence, and being unable to do what he enjoyed the most – exercising!

Matt’s research led him to find some amazing movement-based therapists that helped him to focus on breathing, the pelvis, ribcage and the feet. After which he carried out a self-assessment, looking at his own posture and marking down any alignment issues he found. This enabled him to explore which movements and exercises worked well for him, and what didn’t!

Matt does clinics online, as well as in person. And his treatments work for people of all ages and abilities.
